I think that this person is Father, or the Commander. I think his character drastically changed in the last chapter because he slowly grew mad by the end of the book. He eventually realized what he was doing other people was extremely out of the question, when he figured out, that theoretically, he killed his own son without knowing. In the end, I believe after he knew what he did for sure, he didn't want to live on the Earth, and did not care what happened after that to him, whether he was tourtered or killed or fired, he didn't care.

This means to me that it is important to me that you stay yourself, otherwise you can find trouble. You should always be yourself, and not want to be anyone but you. BE YOU. Be who you are, not who you want to be.
Thank you, Christina (Your local motivational speaker) Here are some parts of the book to prove Bruno and Shmuel are best friends... (I have the iPad)
page 327 (in iPad): Bruno was willing to threaten his life (although not knowing) to help his friend find his Papa. page 306-307: Bruno was not very sure he wanted to return to Berlin when father asked because he would miss Shmuel very much. page 343: he held Shmuel's tiny hand and said "Shmuel, your my best friend for life." page 344: (Right before the boys die) "And then the room went very dark and somehow, despite the chaos that followed, Bruno found that he was still holding Shmuel's hand in his own and nothing in the world would have ever persuaded him to let it go." This chapter made a little chill go through my brain. I was very instense before Bruno answered fathers question, "Do you know what they do on the other side" and I was wondering if he was going to tell the truth that he knows Schmuel or not, and if he will actual say his feelings about the town, but then when it came out of is mouth, I never felt so relieved in the entire book. This is what I think could have possibly happened if Bruno did not stretch the truth:
Father: "Come in kids. I need to talk to you" ... Father: "Do you guys like it here" Kids: "well"... ... Father: "Bruno, do you know what happens on the other side?" Bruno: I guess I know a little bit, I understand that me getting Schmuel in trouble the other night, got him beat up the next day I"... Father: "The next day you what?" Bruno: "Nevermind. Father: "Tell me. what did you do?" Bruno: "well, I made a friend"... And so Bruno continued telling him about Schmuel, and continued to get in even more trouble each sentence he confessed. I would picture this chapter end with Bruno being sent back to Berlin and Schmuel, sadly, be very hurt to the point where he will no longer be on the camp, or the earth. Comparing that we assume that Pavel died by spilling wine on Lieutenant Kotler, when a prisoner in camp is talking to someone on the other side about his life. If you think about it, I'm glad Bruno lied. Text to Self:
In this chapter Bruno went over to apologize to Shmuel because he felt very, very sorry for what he did to him. Thankfully, Shmuel forgave him, because thats just what friends do. And for the first time, Shmuel lifted up the fence from where Bruno gives him food, and shook Bruno's hand. I can relate to this because me and my brother get in many fights on stupid things everyday, but eventually we forgive and move on. Text to Text: This part of the chapter can relate to the movie "Separated at birth" and how the script matches this lesson. There are lots of times in that show that everyone asks for forgiveness to each other, which each and every character already has. Text to Society: In the end of chapter 16, we have discovered that Gretel and Bruno have lice in their hair. Gretel has to use and smelly shampoo that is like rotting bugs, when Bruno here has to shave off his hair. The last line in the chapter is that Shmuel says that Bruno is now just like him, but fatter. I think the author is stressing this statement because Bruno cares about his hair being shaved off, and he's lucky to even have that. There are other people all over the entire world, who aren't lucky enough to have what he has. Bruno cares about his hair shaved, and will still grow back, but thats the only thing, sometimes, nobody on the other side of the fence doesn't even had one strand. Your lucky for what you have, never forget it. Bruno has always seen father as the man of the house, and he always gives directions to everyone else, but that had changed Bruno's perspective when he had dinner with the Fury, and noticed a distant look in fathers face when Bruno noticed the fury as taking control now in his house!
Something like this happened to me when my ad had to go to Connecticut for a meeting and my brother was at his friends house, so my dad dropped me off at my moms work and I stayed with her. I saw her go up to her boss and talk with him when she finished her work, and this reminded me of me in school. I feel like she was being serious, almost like she is trying to get a good grade! It was very fun to be at there job! Chapter 10: The Dot That Became a Speck That Became a Blob That Became a Figure That Became a Boy3/16/2016 In the chapter 10, Bruno goes out to explore. Soon enough, Bruno is getting too tired, but on the verge of quitting, he notices a speck a little bit distant from him. Knowing Bruno, he made his exploration get the best of him and got closer to the tiny speck. As he got closer and closer, that speck turned into a blog, into a figure, into a boy. Bruno then let bis mind guide him over to the boy by the fence, and curiously asked him him name. The boy responded "Im Schmuel." Bruno thought that it was a strange and unusual name to have. He was very dirty and was wearing grey striped pajamas. Im Bruno" He said back, implying for a conversation to signal back to him. Their conversation went for a while, talking about how they like exploring and their birthdays. They found out that they are the same age, and share a birthday Both boys were born on April 15, 1934. Their conversation concluded when Bruno asked the boy why there are so many people on this side of the fence, and basically no one on his side. The superstition is driving me crazy!
In chapter 9, Herr Liszt thinks geography and history are the utmost important subjects to learn about. But I think Math is most important for us to use. Math is used every single day by every single person on the globe. Math helps us calculate our homework answers, experiments, what we are charged for at the grocery store, helps us count, cooking time, tell time, and things we haven't studied yet. For Example, Math helps Bobby Flay to tell what time he needs to take his turkey out of the oven. Math is a very import subject for everyone around the world, and I wonder what ancient times did without math!
Out-With Camp September 13, 1943 Dear My Beloved Grandson Bruno, I am missing you dearly and treasure your picture up on my mantle. Just not seeing you is driving me crazy. I can not wait until I get the next chance to see you. I miss you so much! I know you feel uncomftorable in your new home, and I feel the same way with my new living schedule, not seeing you and Gretel. Last time we were together was at Christmas a very distant time ago. From Mother and Father, they discussed with me that you have not had your liking grow upon your new house. Always remember that you can make every bad situation into an incredible adventure! If you look at the bright side, your new house has a lovely garden, and those people, on the other side of the fence your father talks about so much, Im sure their wonderful people one day you will get to meet.Although, I would't worry about what is happening on the other side, just worry about your self and your new marvelous home. I can't wait to see you again soon! Maybe Next Christmas! Until then, I love you so much Bruno and never forget that. Sincerely, Grandmother Nathalie |
