In this chapter, the family has officially moved in. Bruno thinks that is is lonely and abandoned because there is no where to make friends and if their was he wouldn't know if they were good influences or not. There is only three floors, one bathroom, and all the rooms were connected. In the other house there was five floors and various bathrooms. Also in the old house Bruno liked sliding down his banister, but theres no banister in the new house. The strangest of them all, is that they were in the middle of nowhere, but there was a big wired fence running down the side of the house for miles after miles. If I was Bruno, I would explore, which Im sure he will do.

In this very first chapter, we are introduced into some characters. We met Bruno his mother and father, his maid, Maria, and the Butler, Lars. When Bruno came home from school, he found Maria shuffling though his belongings, packing it into bags. Soon enough, Bruno finds his mother and asks her whats going on. He found out that they are moving. Bruno was very sad and felt betrayed. He did not want to leave his friends and school. If I out of nowhere came home from school and found out I was moving away, I would feel frustrated and angry. Although I cannot relate to Bruno because Ive never moved away or switched schools or anything like that, and i never plan to either. I would be so sad day after day, eventually get over it, but I would miss it like crazy, which is guaranteed what poor Bruno is feeling.
