this is the final chapter if the giver, and things started to get serious on the boys journey, supposably out of sameness and into “elsewhere” The track on the two’s voyage begins to freeze, and bug hills approach them. There is snow falling all around, which makes it harder to find food and stay warm. Since there is snow on the ground, Jonas can not ride the bike anymore since it is piling up with freezing cold flurries. He also was losing consciousness since he has barely eaten much in days and struggling to keep him and Gabe alive. He was even riding the bicycle one day and stopped pedaling. The bike fell on Jonas and Gabe. He is also trying to use every last bit of the memory warmth to help himself and Gabe stay warm, but for the most part, it wouldn’t work. This made me feel that soon Jonas and Gabe wouldn’t handle it anymore. The boys then come across a hill and Jonas decided to go over. It says as he approaches the top, he finds a sled. as he looks down the bottom, he could see light. then it says that while Jonas and Gabe are on the sled, Jonas starts to loose consciousness but keeps his head up. as they get closer and closer down the hill, he sees more and more light. he text in the book says that when they reach the bottom, there was music, and people waiting for Jonas, and the baby Gabe.he even felt joy inside himself when he reached the top of the hill. I think that the end of the context is a hint for you to figure out for yourself what happened. What I think is that Jonas (and maybe Gabe) died and since they hear music and see lightened feel slight joy in his body, he most likely died

The first part of this chapter, Jonas notices the downsides of his plan, which won't work, but it also talks about his Jonas will flee the community. Before Jonas decides to dash along the world, he finishes his daily family dinner. Everything goes as planned until Jonas father announces Gabriel will be released. he said that he even voted for him to be released. it would happen early tomorrow morning. Jonas had grown too attached (which he was told to do). Soon his mind makes up. He's not going to let this happen and will take Gabriel with him on his escape. Gabriel was so special to Jonas, that Jonas felt a close relationship he has never felt before. It then tells us that when Jonas was running away, he broke too many rules, one of which involved stealing his fathers bicycle that has a designated baby seat on the back. Shortly enough it had been morning and Gabe was just waking up, meanwhile jones's feet were aching from the peddles. Knew he was very tired and had to sleep but also had to find a way to get gabe to fall back asleep, since he just woke up. They slept all day and drove all night. it soon became a daily routine. Sometimes, Jonas would lay his hands on Gabe's back to transmit a memory of soothingness. They noticed the Search planes look for them, flying so close to land Jonas could almost make out the pilots faces. It happened day after day. It became another routine while Jonas and Gabe would drop behind a tree or bush, to hold from the planes searching for the two. Gabe would even say "Plane! Plane!" to warn Jonas because thats what happened every day, sometimes multiple times a day. One day, Jonas knew that was it. There were no planes flying, no loud noises to indicate a vehicle, nothing. Everything went away back to their psychopath community, while Jonas and Gabe were living life the right way.
Chapter 20-
Jonas sat with the giver, debating whether to go home or not, although is pretty much leaning towards not going back, but he knows he has to return to his dwelling., until the giver says Jonas could spend the night, which he probably felt very relieved about. He was not ready to face his father after seeing what he does to innocent people. While Jonas is still with the giver, a conversation sparks between the two about how important the memories are to the world. The giver tells joined one of his own memories, that when he was twelve, he couldn't see beyond, but hear beyond. he head quite pleasant music playing. Since it seemed the giver loved that memory so very much, Jonas insisted he'd not transmit it but to keep it to himself. After all, the Giver can't see color anymore, but he should atlas have a big part of him left. After hours of talking, the giver and Jonas grasp an idea. The giver and Jonas discuss the rest of their plan to escape. They want to do this because since they think the memories are very important, when Jonas leaves the community, all memories will be given to people, which is though to be very important. Jonas did not want to go alone and insisted to go with the Giver, but he says the peopled him in the society when Jonas is gone. The Giver wanted to be with his daughter, "Her name was Rosemary." Jonas was shocked to hear he evened a daughter, but to hear that it was rosemary blew him away. In the past chapter, one of the last couple paragraphs states that Jonas wants to cry. Its because he had just learned what release had actually meant. He hates that these poor, innocent people are being killed in this psychopath society. It made him wanna cry even more is that his father's job is to release people in the community. If my dads job was to kill innocent people that members of the community don't approve, I would not even look at him.
In this chapter there was a holiday unscheduled, which was vey un expected by the people in the society. It was a bummer, since when theres a holiday they have no school and a day of fun. Jonas is still not taking any pills to have the feelings. he is experiencing more and seeing colors. Now that Jonas has received many good and pleasant memories, he experienced another bad one: warfare. When the giver gave him the memory, he was so scared of it and started to cry. When Jonas finds Asher and his friends on the field playing a game,` joined remembers the memory and breaks down in the middle of the field. Jonas and fiona tell him its just a game, but they don't know what Jonas knows, and probably never will. In the end of the chapter, we find out a woman is going to have twins, which his father is in charge of sending to elsewhere.
The next morning, for the first time, Jonas did not take his pill. Something within him, something that had grown there through the memories, told him to throw the pill away.
I think Jonas didn't take the pill because he wanted to experience love for himself and not just through memories. Since stirrings handle feeling Stirrings take away feelings and love, which the pills throw away. He did not want to love in sameness for the rest of his life, which is probably why he threw them out. If Jonas was me, right after I experience the memory, the next day I would go to sleep, wake up, and pretend ti take the pills right before school but take them with me and through them out so theres no evidence left in the house. When Jonas talked about "love" he was told it is a rude and inappropriate term to use. (in other terms it is a bad word and not to use in their house hold. If I were Jonas, I would have thrown them out the day I learned about love. In Chapter 12. The Giver told Jonas about the decision the community makes about Sameness...
"Our people made that choice, the choice to go to Sameness. Before my time, before the previous time, back and back and back. We relinquished color when we relinquished sunshine and did away with differences. We gained control of many things. But we had to let go of others." "We shouldn't have!" "You've come very quickly to that conclusion. It took me many years. Maybe your wisdom will come much more quickly than mine." This is meant to tell about sameness. Jonas thought people should not live in sameness, but to be unique on their own way. like living in color. In this chapter Jonas receives his very first memory: snow and sledding. The Giver easily transmits the memories by placing his hands on jones's bare back. " I started you with memories of pleasure." When he says that I think he is starting him off with an easy memory, just so his first impression on receiving memories isn't terrible or tragic. There may be good memories, and bad memories. Some maybe bad enough to give him nightmares. It then says that his previous failure told him to start out with a good memory. This probably means that he gave the previous receiver a bad memory, which probably went downhill from then. When the Giver said to Jonas it will be painful, it might mean that he can physically feel the pain, or emotionally. Hopefully when Jonas is shown a bad memory, he will handle it properly and mature enough to move past it and be able to live with the level of pain and sadness.
In chapter 10, Giver said, "I received all of the memories of the whole world, when I was selected. And here in this room, all alone, I re-experience them again and again. It is how wisdom comes. And how we shape our future.... I am so weighted with them."
I think this passage is really deep and meaningful and that the giver has held on to so many memories its hard to count. I think They chose Jonas to hold the memories now because The giver is probably getting old and overwhelmed since he has memories of people around the world. Since Jonas is the new receiver, I think he will be very mature in the next couple of moths. In chapter 9 Jonas seems the receivers 7 rules for the first time, but the one that stunned him the most is you may lie. He doesn't have a clue about other jobs rules, or if they are allowed to lie. maybe Jonas' parents have been lying his whole lie and never knew. If lying was allowed, the world would probably be more dangerous. there will be more fighting between people, more wars.If i could trust anyone, it would be myself and not lie to anyone nor myself. I hate lying because the guilt takes over my body. Lying would not be a good thing to bring to a peaceful community. If someone knew I was lying, it would not end well.
